Counter Systems
A counter system or an entrance counter system should serve both the visitors and the employees working in that area. They should be appropriately sized in order to fit in the space provided and serve the typical day to day flow. Counter systems should provide plenty of area to perform the specialized work, and should fit the current décor.
Circulation Desks
Today’s modern libraries seek modular circulation desks with adjustable work surfaces. These types of circulation desks enable library staff to easily perform the many functions of today’s library. Some circulation desks are equipped with modern technology that enable different works surfaces to be manually or electronically adjusted, resulting in a wide range of set ups and configurations. They may also come with accessories such as modesty panels. These panels separate one work area from another, and are ideal in situations where more than one person shares the circulation desk, or in which several different functions are performed at the circulation desk. Circulation desks come in many different styles, colors, and materials, to suit just about any library environment.
Information Desks.
Information desks should be large enough to accommodate the staff needed to attend to the typical flow of visitors, and the equipment needed for them to do their jobs. Information desks come in many different sizes, styles, and configurations. Modular information desks typically offer a series of straight and rounded elements that can be used as single counters, or combined to make special designs.
