Bokja was born in 2000 under the creative whims of Huda Baroudi and Maria Hibri in an impromptu moment and a shared love of furniture and fabrics. The company has since grown into a brand with a vision and a voice, while managing to maintain its sense of spontaneity and passion. Bokja is first and foremost a design and craft studio. Everything is made by hand with meticulous attention and love for detail. Combining artisans, carpenters, designers, there are at least fourteen hands behind every design and sometimes over one hundred years of tradition in a single piece of fabric. A combination of the histories of workers and materials to create designs with a voice. Hoda Baroudi and Maria Hibri are the Beirut-based duo behind the Bojka concept. Bokja is an expression of of resprect and love for an age-old culture: ancient textiles and tapestries from the Levant and countries along the Silk Road. Their concept stands for a poetic use of color and craftmanship aiming to blur the line between art, design and function.
